According to The Escapist blog, Microsoft has just announced that a new "slim" Xbox 360 has been in production and will ship to stores TODAY!
I do not know how accurate these reports are but talk about short notice!
The new Xbox 360 is equipped with built in WiFi, a 250 GB hard drive, and costs $299 (the same price as a standard Xbox 360).
